International Conference on “Literatures and Arts Across the Indian Ocean”
Call for Papers
Literatures and arts have long served as important mediums for the exchange and mutual learning among civilizations. From the ancient literary classics translated into various languages, the fine porcelain unearthed in archaeological digs and other cultural heritages, to the contemporary literary and artistic works that document and imagine the ocean and multi-subject cross-ocean exchanges, the multilingual and multi-form literatures and arts in the Indian Ocean region have shown rich imagination, deep insight, and enduring vitality.
In commemoration of the 620th anniversary of Zheng He’s Voyages to the “West Oceans” and the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, the international academic conference on “Literatures and Arts Across the Indian Ocean” is to be held by the Research Center of Eastern Literature, Peking University (Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences under the Ministry of Education), the School of Foreign Languages, and the Institute of Oriental Studies at Peking University.
