On September 26, 2025, Russian Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation presented the Russian Government’s “Friendship and Cooperation” Medal to Professor Zhang Bing from the Institute of Russian Culture, School of Foreign Languages, Peking University. The award ceremony was held at the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing to honor Professor Zhang’s outstanding contributions to Russian literary and cultural studies, as well as to Sino-Russian cultural and educational exchanges. Professor Zhang is the second scholar from the Department of Russian Language and Literature at Peking University to receive the honor. In 2018, Professor Ning Qi became the first Russian language expert from Beijing-based universities to be awarded this honor since the establishment of the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing.

The "Friendship and Cooperation" Medal of Honor and Certificate
Zhang Bing enrolled in the Department of Russian Language and Literature at Peking University in 1982 and successfully obtained her bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees there. She previously served as Deputy Director of the Literature Teaching and Research Division in the Department. Currently, she is a research professor at the Institute of Russian Culture at Peking University, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal Russian in China, a professor at the Institute of Foreign Literature and Culture of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and a Yunshan Distinguished Expert in Foreign Language and Literature. She also holds multiple leadership roles in academic societies, including Executive Council Member of the Chinese Society for Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies, Secretary-General of the Russian Language Teaching Association (КАПРЯЛ), Vice President of the Russian Literature Research Branch of the Chinese Foreign Literature Association, Vice President of the Foreign Literary Theory Research Branch, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Chinese Comparative Literature Association, and Vice President of the Foreign Literature Professional Committee of the China Association of Higher Education. Her research focuses on Russian literature, Sinology and translation, and she has made significant contributions to the promotion and exchanges of Russian language and cultural studies in China.

Ms. Udiana Bulycheva, Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in China and Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing, presented the "Friendship and Cooperation" Medal of Honor to Professor Zhang Bing.
