Profile
Xian Manxue is a distinguished scholar in the field of Vietnamese linguistics and Sino-Vietnamese comparative studies. She earned her Ph.D. in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Peking University. She currently serves as an Associate Professor at the University's School of Foreign Languages, where she has built an impressive research and teaching career.
Her primary research interests encompass Vietnamese phonetics, grammar, and historical language contact between Chinese and Vietnamese. A cornerstone of her scholarly work is the monograph Historical Strata Analysis of Sino-Vietnamese Corresponding Morphemes, a groundbreaking study that was honored with the Second Prize in the Eighth Outstanding Research Achievement Awards for Higher Education Institutions (Humanities and Social Sciences) by The Ministry of Education of China in 2020. She also co-authored the widely adopted Vietnamese Language Course, which has been recognized as a Beijing Higher Education Elite Textbook and a Peking University Outstanding Textbook. Through rigorous historical-comparative methodologies, Dr. Xian’s research provides key insights into long-term language contact, contributing significantly to the fields of linguistics and East Asian studies.
