Estela Belén Peinado Sánchez is now serving in the Department of Hispanic Language and Literatures. She has a strong background in Translation and Interpreting, Foreign Language Teaching, and Asian Studies with a focus on Chinese culture, literature, and translation. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Theory of Literature and Comparative Literature at the University of Granada.

Her professional experience combines teaching, research, and translation. She has taught Spanish and Chinese at universities, language academies, and private institutions, and has worked as an instructor and activity organiser at the Cervantes Institute in Beijing. Since 2021, she has worked as an independent translator, applying her linguistic skills in professional contexts.

Her research interests include Comparative Literature, Contemporary Chinese Literature, the representation of the feminine figure, autobiography, autofiction, discourse analysis, imagology, and translation studies. Her work has been recognized with the 1st Award for the Best Master’s Dissertation in East Asian Studies from the Spanish Association of East Asian Studies in 2023.

She is passionate about fostering cross-cultural understanding through language and literature, integrating teaching, research, and translation, and exploring how literary expression reflects identity, alterity, and cultural dialogue.
