Ana Eltermann teaches a range of Portuguese language and linguistics courses, including Basic and Intermediate Portuguese, Portuguese Writing, Oral Production and Comprehension, Grammar, and Linguistics.
She holds a Ph.D. (2018-2022) and an M.A. (2016-2017) in Linguistics, as well as a B.A. in Portuguese Language and Literatures, all from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil). Since 2022, she has been serving at the School of Foreign Languages, Peking University, under the Guimarães Rosa Lectureship Program of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Her research focuses on critical language policy and linguistic anthropology, particularly within Afro-Brazilian contexts and the ways linguistic practices shape notions of brasilidade (Brazilian identity). She is also interested in the teaching of Portuguese as a foreign language, especially in contexts involving linguistically distant languages.
